THE FIGHT TO LAY HOLD
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12 NKJV
See the instructions given to the man of God Timothy by our dear apostle Paul. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life! Beyond doubt, Timothy was already born again. He had already received eternal life through faith in Christ Jesus.
But here apostle Paul exhorts him to fight the good fight of faith, and lay hold on eternal life. It's not as though he didn't have eternal life. But you see, we live in a world whose system drastically contradicts the ways of eternal life. It will take a fight, the fight of faith, to remain committed to the ways of eternal life and eternal life only during your stay in this world.
That's exactly what apostle Paul wanted Timothy to do. If this was so in his time, it's even more so in our time. There is a persistence necessary for us in our time. This eternal Life which we have received must be brought to light in us. Don't let the systems of the world make you recline to the human way of living.
Stay persistent on the Word of God. Reading, meditating and re-meditating on it over and over again. Don't let the Word get out of your consciousness. Keep it on your lips, in your confession, in your words and conversation. Be committed to practicing this Life, because it is the essence of our being.
Affirmation: I thank you dear God, because I am born again, with the new life of Christ; this eternal Life which has replaced the old human life in me. I am full of the Spirit and the Word of God. I live eternal life, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
