TRUE BEAUTY
rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
I Peter 3:4 NKJV
Reading our theme verse from the preceding verse, it says, Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. (I Peter 3:3-4 NKJV)
You see, there is a beauty that is only physically visible. Seen with the human eyes, and appreciated with the human mind. But the Spirit of God reveals to us, that there is another kind of beauty. He describes this beauty as the incorruptible beauty.
This one emanates not from your physical being, but from your inner man. This beauty is described as the quality of your spirit, your character and your person. A gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
Though you look really good physically, if you don't let Christ shape your character, and develop you from within, you'll end up being really ugly. Because the beauty of the Spirit is not merely physical. Has Christ been formed in your heart? What kind of life do you live? And how do you relate with those around you. These determine how beautiful you truly are.
Affirmation: I refuse to be lost, pursuing only physical beauty, being carnal and ending up with an ugly character in the Spirit. I cultivate and have a gentle a quiet spirit. Not haughty and worldly. Christ is formed in my heart and life in Jesus name. Amen.
