SPEND TIME TO PRAY
Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.
John 11:5-6 NKJV
The scriptures say that Jesus loved Martha, and her sister (Mary) and Lazarus, therefore, when He heard that Lazarus was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was. This seems rather ironic naturally. Because if He really loved them, then He should've rushed to where they were, upon receiving the news of Lazarus's sickness. But no. He stayed two days.
For a long time, people have been made to think that Jesus stayed two days, just to wait for Lazarus to die, so that He could go raise him and prove He's the son of God. But the scriptures tell us otherwise. He didn't stay two days extra to prove His divinity, He stayed two days because He loved them so much.
But what does this even mean? The outcome shows us exactly what this means. Jesus showed up in Bethany full of the Spirit and power. Did it happen automatically because He's Jesus? No! His words in verses 41 and 42 reveal what He (Jesus) had been doing for those two days.
At the tomb He said, "Father I thank you for you have heard me, and I know you always hear me..." This means He spent those two days talking to God in prayer, waiting on Him, and God heard Him. A whole Jesus, needed to pray for 2 days, to display the anointing for less than 30 minutes? How much more you! We know you're a son of God, now that's why you should pray!
Affirmation: I choose to pray. I'm built to pray. Prayer stirs up the anointing of the Spirit of God in me. Prayer gets me in sync with God. In prayer, fears and doubts are destroyed and direction is received. I'm a person of prayer. I have the Spirit of prayer. Even right now, I pray! (Go ahead and pray!)
