CUT OFF THE OPPORTUNITY
“If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.
Matthew 18:8 NKJV
It's not sin to have a hand or foot, or even an eye, as seen in the next verse. But some things simply create opportunities for sin to happen. Jesus said if they cause you to sin, or if it causes you to sin, cut it off. Not even if it is sin itself; It may not be sin, but if it creates an opportunity for sin in your life, then cut it off.
This is a huge part of walking circumspectly, as wise and not fools. See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, (Ephesians 5:15 NKJV). If you want to live righteously continuously, then intentionally cut off from yourself the opportunities to do wrong.
Your heart will spot them as the desires to do right grows in you, then you must act on them. Such opportunities could be in people, in movies, in games, in events, in an application, in conversations or anything. Don't stay there and say you will not sin. No! Cut it off from you, and cut yourself off from it.
It might hurt, because it might seem that such a thing is as important as a hand or an eye is to your body. It doesn't matter. It's better to live a life pleasing to God, than continue to dabble into sin because of something you know you can and should separate yourself from.
Affirmation: I thank you dear Father for your righteous wisdom at work in me. I choose to cut off from myself, anything, any person, any activity or program which creates the opportunity for sin in my life. I live for your glory and righteousness, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
