THE SCRIPTURE IS PROPHECY
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
2 Peter 1:19 KJV
Prophecy refers to God's will or mind revealed about something. A prophecy about a thing is a revelation of the things God has spoken or planned concerning that thing. This is why prophecy is so important. It reveals to us God's description, and God's plan for people, events, nations and generations.
Many people want to know what God's word and plan for them is. And so they seek a prophet who will prophesy to them, and reveal to them God's plans for them, and His word for them. What many have failed to realise however, is that the first and primary place, where God has revealed His plan and desire for them is in His word!
Jesus said, lo, in the volume of the books, it is written of me, I have come to do your will oh God. The NLT puts it this way "Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God— as is written about me in the Scriptures.’” (Hebrews 10:7 NLT). Those were the words of Jesus!
You see, our master understood that the first place to find the prophecies about Him are in the scriptures! Do you think it'll be any different for you? The first place to find the things God has planned and said about you, is also in the scripture! Learn to hold the scriptures firm!
What about Daniel, while many would be asking to hear a voice speak about their nation to them, Daniel said, "I understood by books" He understood Israel's prophetic position as a nation through the scripture! You see, the scriptures are prophetic about you! So much is written about you! Study to see it. Choose to fulfill it!
Prayer: I thank you dear Father, because the scripture is the primary place you've declared your words concerning me. I am not without prophecies, but as I study the word, I discover the things you've said about me. I walk into them, I fulfill them! Glory to God in Jesus name. Amen.
