THE PEOPLE IDENTIFIED BY MERCY
who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
I Peter 2:10 NKJV
The New Living Translation of our theme verse puts it this way; “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.” (1 Peter 2:10 NLT). Hallelujah. You see when we were not born again, we had no identity in God.
Those who are unsaved are not numbered in Him. They have no place in Him. And such we were until we came closer as He drew us, and received Him into our lives. Now we have an identity in Christ. When the records in Christ are checked, we are found as belonging to God. Hallelujah!!
Our theme scripture goes on to explain to us that when we had no identity in Christ, we also had no mercy from Him. Remember it is mercy that triumphs over judgement. This is why those who have no identity in Him are condemned already.
Because they do not have the mercy of God. But for us in Christ Jesus, we have His mercies. Never think that you are without mercy, or that God would show you no mercy. He has already shown you mercy. Receive it! By His mercies, you live in righteousness, peace, justice and you reign in life to the glory of God. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for your mercy which you have shown unto me. I love you dear Lord for choosing to recognise me in you through my Lord Jesus Christ. Help me to live daily with this truth in me, in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
