LIVE ACCORDING TO HIS WILL
Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.
1 Thessalonians 4:1 NLT
What does it mean to live in a way that pleases God? Many people have their own imagination of what might be pleasing to God. But in the book of Romans chapter 12 verse 2, apostle Paul says, Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (NLT).
He describes God's will for you, as that which is good, pleasing and perfect. Now he says we should endeavour to live in a way that pleases God. If God's will for you is good, pleasing and perfect to God, then to live in a way that pleases God is to live according to God's will for you.
This simply means one thing. If you must live a life that pleases God, you've got to know His will for you. Because it's His will for you that is pleasing to Him. To know God's will for your life, your mind needs to be renewed, i.e taught how to think. This is done by the word of God and the Holy Spirit.
It's the Holy Spirit who will show you through God's word who God is, and who you are in Him. Then the Holy Spirit will also reveal His plans for you to you in stages, so that you can follow His process. Don't live for yourself. Don't try to live by rules and regulations to please God. Simply walk in the Spirit, and stick to the word.
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for your love towards me. And for selecting me as one who should walk in your will for my life. I love you dear Lord. Thank you for the awesome privilege. Help me Lord to live for you daily, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
