KEEP YOUR MIND IN THE TRUTH
But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.
2 Corinthians 11:3 NLT
The NKJV version of our theme verse says, "But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." (II Corinthians 11:3 NKJV.) You see, the enemy seeks to corrupt the minds of God's people. And He seeks to do this to stop their obedience to His word and His will.
Adam and Eve continued in line with God's word for them, until the mind of Eve was corrupted, by the skillful lies of the devil. The reason many people don't respond to God's word is because their minds have been corrupted by the enemy. His lies aren't obvious. And many times they come in unexpected forms.
The words cunning, clever, crafty and subtle are used to describe his ways. These refer to skilled deceit. Hard to distinguish and detect. Very well planned, schemed and strategized. The reason people fall for his lies isn't because they planned to. It's because they couldn't detect them.
This is why discernment through the Holy Spirit by the word of God is highly necessary. Our minds must be sharpened with God's word by God's Spirit to be very alert. Quick to respond to God, and quick to detect the lies of the enemy. This is not possible with the wisest wisdom of man, but only by the Holy Spirit of God.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I thank you for being my Light. I am delivered from the bondage of the lies of the enemy. By your word and your Spirit my mind is sharpened to respond to you sharply and repel the lies of the enemy, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
