FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
So, because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and worked; for by occupation they were tentmakers. Acts 18:3 NKJV
Apostle Paul by calling was an apostle of Jesus Christ sent to the gentiles. But by occupation he was a tentmaker. This shows you clearly that the ministerial assignment of a man can be different from his occupation.
Apostle Paul had to eat, pay bills, transport himself, buy clothes, pay rents and so on. He knew it wasn't wise to depend on the ministerial work to support all these, and so he had an occupation. We've got to learn the same today.
Many preachers are financially strained because they've got nothing else doing besides the work of the ministry. And this puts them in financial tight corners sometimes. But that isn't the kind of example we were given.
It's wise to have something else doing for financial provision as least when starting. This will reduce the strain on you, and reduce the temptation to financially exploit those to whom you minister.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we pray for your ministers all over the world, help them with provisions and ideas for financial prosperity in Jesus name. Amen.
