TOO QUICK TO RESPOND?
“This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.”
John 8:6 NKJV
Patience is more than a skill. It is a fruit of the Spirit. Too many people have gotten into troubles they could've easily avoided because they responded to people or situations too quickly. Notice the first actions of Jesus when they brought to Him the woman caught in adultery.
The scriptures record that they brought the woman to him and asked him questions hoping to find a way to trap him by his own words, but Jesus was not quick to speak.
Perhaps in the period of His calmness, the Holy Spirit inspired Him with the wisdom on how to handle the situation. Many Christians have gotten things wrong because they spoke rather too quickly. When a little patience could've saved the day, they acted on impulse.
Avoid acting on impulse. Don't react to situations. No, respond to situations. This way you eliminate the risk of throwing wisdom away. The Holy Spirit has an answer for every situation. Be patient to follow Him.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit,I choose to follow your leading. I refuse to go ahead of myself or act on impulse. I choose patience. You are my Lord. Lead me, and I will follow. Thank you Lord, in Jesus name. Amen!
