THE WORK IS TO BELIEVE
“Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.””
John 6:29 NKJV
When we talk about believing, many think it's a trivial thing, with no intentionality to it. It's easy to generally say "yes I believe in Jesus", until circumstances of life hit you with questions when you must answer "what exactly do I believe".
To believe in the one God sent, is to believe every bit of information He brings. Many times, this information is opposite to our logical knowledge, and so, many ignorantly just rather ignore it than believe it.
For example, many people would throw a food gift away, not because their spirit directed them to do so, nor because they actually didn't desire the gift, but because even though they desired the gift, they were afraid of being poisoned by the food.
Well, should they rather have eaten it? No, because they'd still be eating in fear. They should work towards believing the word (Mark 16:18). So that their actions would be a result of faith and not carefulness from fear. Jesus said the work of God is to believe, and faith is imparted by meditating on and practicing the word. Glory to God.
Affirmation: In the name of Jesus, I choose to believe. The walls of doubt, the logical sense of men that contend with the mystery of faith in my mind are pulled down by the word of God in Jesus name. Amen. I choose to believe!
