Is there anything we are to talk about the prodigal son?
Yes, he was a son who wasted all that there is of the resources given to him by and of the Father.
He was a wasteful spender.
Yet, he was a son who knew what one ought to do when a mess has taken place.
He made the right decision at the right time.
He was a son who understood his identity even though he had messed up big time.
He had disappointed his father but he would rather go back to the Father than live the life of a slave.
He would rather be a servant to the Father than be a slave to unknown men.
He is not worthy to be called a “Son”, he knows the weight. Yet, he rises and goes down to the Father.
He lived a riotous life, a life without direction but he did something worthy of associating with. He went back to his Father. Vs 17
It is worthy of note that we have many prodigal sons today.
Some are still in their Father’s abode. Yet, their hearts are of the prodigals.
They are living as they desire, taking out the Father’s will from their lives.
They are squandering away God’s resources and investment in their lives.
The focus is not that you are a prodigal son, the focus is that you go back to the Father.
It is time to arise and go back. That you fall into that habit isn’t something to be happy about but you have to go back to the Father just like the Son did.
That you found yourself doing things that are contrary to his will and things that would bereave the Father’s heart isn’t the case, go back to him.
The Father would receive you wholeheartedly and put you in a rightful place in him.
Luke 15:21-22 “And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:”
