SEEK IT BY FAITH
but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. Romans 9:31-32
It is good to live a life of devotion continually to God. It's important and amazing to have a consistent prayer life, Bible study life, fasting life, etc. But you must be careful not to put your confidence in any of the beautiful things you do, no matter how well or how consistently you do them.
The moment your heart starts to shift from being confident in Christ Himself alone, to being confident in how consistently you pray, how faithful you are with your tithing,
how much of the word you study, etc, you are beginning to look unto things wrongly. The Jews who sought righteousness did not attain it, because they sought it by the works of the law. They put their confidence in what they were doing.
And no matter how well you do what you do, your works themselves can never be good enough. Let our confidence for anything and everything remain only in Christ Himself alone. Do good works, but don't put your confidence in them. Be blessed. TCF
