DON'T FORETHINK THE FLESH
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:14.
In our theme verse, apostle writes to the Roman Christians and then by extension to us, to put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lust. Well, can we make provision for the flesh, which would lead to us for filling the desires and passions of the flesh? Apparently the answer is yes; but how?
The word translated provision is the Greek word "PRONOIA" meaning a forethought or foresight. (That is an advanced knowledge, enabling or allowing something to happen). This gives us a clearer picture of what it means to make provision for the flesh. It is not so abstract. A forethought is a premeditation, a thinking or a planning out in advance. This is a mental or mind action. A consideration for the future.
Sometimes in this case, this could happen somewhere between Your conscious and subconscious mind. People don’t just fall into sin, before it happens, though they may not have tangibly planned to sin, there is usually that subconscious foreplay of events suggesting a likelihood to sin even before it happens.
Sometimes Christians go ahead with those "underground" thoughts not knowing they are paving the way for the fulfillment of those lust. Don’t premeditate or bear subconscious thoughts of the actions of the flesh in your mind. Doing so is making provisions to fulfill its lust. Rather be fully sunk into the Lord Jesus Christ, like you’d sink into a big cloth. Be filled in your mind with the word and the Spirit. That’s how to live. You are blessed. TCF.
