GOD OF THE NOW
“Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “that they shall no longer say, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ but, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the north country and from all the countries where I had driven them.’ And they shall dwell in their own land.” Jeremiah 23:7-8
Many times, we are used to talking about God with respect to His dealings and workings in ancient times or previous generations.This is very good, but the truth is God wants more than this. He doesn’t want to just be known as God of the old.
He also wants to be the God of the now. See from our theme verse, that God actually wants to be known by His current moves with us in the now. He wants to be reckoned by His current works.
What this simply means is that for every generation in the now, God is so interested in them even more than He worked with the previous generation.He is willing to do in the current generation even more than He did in the previous generation. The glory of the latter shall be greater than the former.
That’s the promise of the Father Himself. Does the current generation not believe this? He wants to do much more with us now. He wants to be known by His works with us now, not just His old works.So let us in embrace this truth and understand that we are those people with whom God is even more willing to express more glorious works through.
