THE ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Some times, especially when Christians are still young (immature) in the faith, they fall into mistakes and sins. Now, God saved us, to the intent that we live totally righteously, but He knew it may not be an overnight reality. It may take a short while to get to maturity. In the process of growing to maturity, babes always fall, because they aren't yet like responsible sons.
The devil tries to take advantage of their fall to keep them down. Many times, he uses the guilt effect on the Christians to make them feel that even when they repent and acknowledge their wrongs, that God may be really angry and not forgive them immediately. Well, that's a lie from Satan! This word is a beautiful reminder for you.
We write that you should not sin, but if you've ever fallen, don't loose heart. It's only a part of your growth process to maturity and depth. Don't try to play the blame game like Adam and Eve played, no! You must learn to accept responsibility for your sins. That's the secret to receiving forgiveness. Simply repentantly acknowledge to God that you fell, and He will forgive you!
You may ask "Just like that?" Yes! Just like that! It's an assurance in His Word! If you confess to Him, He is faithful enough to do His part, which is forgiveness! It's not something you need to pay Him for, or fast about. The question is, do you trust Him? If you trust Him, then believe that He has forgiven you, and move on in love with Him! You're loved. Remain in the Word and prayers. We'll continue tomorrow. -TCF
