THE TRUTH OF SUCCESS
Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
We live in a world where many people are considered successful in different fields, and many others are really striving to attain success. We have people who have put down dreams and desires they must achieve within a specified period and when they do so, they are considered successful. This is very nice and good, but also, this has caused a distortion in the definition of true/real success.
We must understand that though we live in this world, we are not of this world. And so the things that define the world, don't define us and vice versa. We are defined by God's Word. God speaking to Joshua says that His Word and law must not depart from Joshua, but must dwell in him richly.
He(Joshua) must observe to follow the Word and observe to do all that is written, for only then can he make his way prosperous and have "good" success. This was the first time God actually gave a man the template for success. And God says whatever you call success, must be anchored on knowledge and obedience to my Word.

So God was saying in other words, if you seem to be doing well, but it's not anchored on my Word, then you're unsuccessful. That's God's standard and that's our definition. This means that only those who know God and our Lord Jesus Christ can be truly successful; because true success is a life lived in 'willful' obedience to God's Word and in accordance with His will. Anything short of this, no matter how good it looks is a very unsuccessful life. There's more, but we'll continue tomorrow. Remain blessed.-TCF
