LIVING IN THE NAME OF JESUS 2
Colossians 3:17 Philippians 2:10-11
(Cont'd from yesterday)
Mind you, the representative doesn't necessarily have to mention the name of the governor at every point before he speaks or acts. But simply by virtue of his identity as the governor's representative in that ceremony, he has the same authority and commands the same obedience as the governor commands. Also due to his knowledge of the governor, he functions (acts) in the same way that the governor would function. He speaks the words the governor would speak, and does the acts the governor would do if he were there himself. This is only possible because he knows the governor well in person. This representative has the authority of the governor, and functions like the governor, because the governor sent him to the ceremony. He came in the name of the governor.
This is just an illustration to help us understand what it means to do, function, or live in the name of somebody. The governor could be a type of Christ, and the representative could be a type of we Christians. Ever since our salvation, we have been recreated and ordained by Christ Himself, to live and continue our lives forever in His name. We are to do all we do in His name, because His life is in us. It's not just about mentioning the name of Jesus Christ when you pray. It's way deeper than that. He's a reality you exist in. An eternal call and ordination. The call to SONSHIP in Christ. To live and function in the name of Jesus Christ. After the order of Christ. Just as a Christ on earth. That's the call and reality of the church. We'll continue from here tomorrow. Still remain on the Word of God. You're blessed.
